8 Pieces for the New Year's Eve Mama
I have a hard time buying for one occasion as I hate to part with $ for a piece that is fantastic yet cost an entire season of soccer classes for my son. When I do have to shop for a festive piece I try to shop for pieces that will get some wear in a less dressy world. Not always easy, case in point, last year's sequin top, rarely worn this year however sequins are in for the summer (get ready!) so I will be wearing my sequin tee with white jeans and sandals come warmer weather. My best advice is if you are going somewhere and you are itching to treat yourself to something fab, do, you deserve it. If you are looking to make something in your closet work then take the item that you love and up the ante a bit with either a great accessory or a clothing item that is on the dressy side. My favorite accessory to add is a necklace or an amazing heel that doesn't feel too trendy yet is chic enough that it is going to move my outfit to the level I would like for a rare night out. When I buy a going out piece it is usually with out fail a solid and in a neutral hue. This allows me to dress it up or down and most importantly to wear it to work and yes I will drop off the boy in some faux leather leggings. I just add the comfy mom sweater to the mix.
