Chic Mama, Allegria Boutique
With some time off last week and a morning solo I was finally able to visit the new children’s boutique Allegria Boutique at 85 North 3rd (between Berry and Wythe.) While in college I worked on State street in Santa Barbara, California, home to some really sweet boutiques where store owners give their all to these little jewels and people from all over visit. This is how I felt when walking into Allegria Boutique. Store owners Melanie Gomez, a designer and Lula Aldunate, a stylist, have created an atmosphere of creativity with a well curated selection of clothes. With a space where your children can entertain themselves with toys and a sitting area with a comfortable couch for resting or nursing the store feels warm and welcoming. The boutique itself is designed with fabric covered walls, vintage furniture coupled with children’s clothing that showcases the talents of it’s owners. Both Melanie and Lula have South American and European backgrounds that is threaded throughout the store with many labels from these countries such as Bolivia yet they do not limit themselves and include chic brands from spots such as Japan and the US.
If you visit our blog you’re well aware of how much we love our children’s stores, labels and online resources here in Williamsburg and Greenpoint. We feel a loyalty to these owners for most are parents or long time residents who like us who feel a sense of community and wish to work in the neighborhood we are raising our families in. It’s exciting to see the shopping mecca our beloved neighborhood has become with stores that really have the parent in mind. We’re thrilled to add Allegria Boutique to the cache of boutiques that Motherburg recommends visiting.
