A weekend at Corning, New York with Ford C-Max

July 30, 2015

As I have mentioned in some recent posts, this is a working summer for my husband and myself which means we are having only a few pockets of time off. Since we live in one of the best city's and states in the world (ya-I am saying it) we have limitless fun at our fingertips. We also have Ford through their fleet vs. sponsor program loaning us this awesome car for Motherburg. Which is why we decided to take a drive upstate and test the cool hybrid Ford C-Max Energi by taking a 4 hour drive upstate to Corning, NY. The only thing I knew about Corning was that it is home to the Corning Museum. Otherwise I knew nada.

First, Corning is gorgeous. An easy going vibe that is pretty kid friendly, even the two museums we visited didn't blink an eye with our wild child being one of their guest.

Visit:

For fun I took my son to the Fun Park which is this cool park with bouncing houses and slides, water bumper cars, miniature gold.

Corning Museum of Glass: For being a glass museum which is not a museum you would think of bringing children this destination is kid friendly. With kids having free admission, cool demonstrations on how glass is made, an Innovation Center that make learning abut glass fun and educational.

Rockwell Museum:  A collection of contemporary Native American art that embody America. This is a quiet museum that features art work that you do not always see in the larger museum such as the early works of Native Americans. We especially love the family studio that features a reading nook, drawing and craft area.

Watkins Glen State Park  We visited this park from a recommendation of a local and it was so much more then we could have imagined. This park is breathtaking... so gorgeous. I only had some sturdy sandals and definitely suggest sneakers . With it only taking 20 ish minutes to get to the park (from the Corning Museum of Glass) it is worth the trip if you visit this city.

 Eat

Unfortunately I am not the best person to critique food for I am extremely picky. Living in Brooklyn we truly have the most amazing food and I tend to have a high standard with restaurants. Which is why my only mention deserves it. Hand and Foot was delicious...fried pickles...fried buttermilk chicken, po’(ish) boy  and the beer brisket are my suggestions. Plus-super kid friendly

The 2015 Ford C-Max was the perfect family car for our getaway. Great gas mileage, we didn't have to gas up till the trip back. Car drives nice and smooth.  Nice amount of room, we had a pack car and still had room to pick up groceries on the way home. Check out more here.
