Have you noticed that smell as you walk around Brooklyn? Isn’t it divine? I love linden tree season in NY! It represents summer and fun to come ~ but did you know you can a tea from the flowers? Linden tea is shown alleviate the common cold. The aromatic fragrance of the linden flowers helps to alleviate a stuffy nose, clear nasal passage, and helps to get rid of the mucus in the throat. The linden flowers contains tannins that acts as an astringent and has mucilage properties which mean that it coats your throat and intestines which helps to soothe and reduces the inflammation in the body. Its also shown to soothe nerves, helps to treat anxiety-related health problems and treat stomach issues. Quite a little flower!

There are several ways to utilize linden’s amazing qualities and here are a few suggestions:

1) Dry the flowers out and make tea! This could be a really fun for the kids to do from start to finish.
2) Linden schnapps
3) Linden hair rinse for over-stressed dried out hair:

  • 1 cup boiling water
  • 1 tsp. linden flowers
Pour the water over the linden flowers; steep until it cools a bit. Strain out the flowers.

4) Tincture
