MB chats with Camp Brooklyn about this Sunday's Outdoor Family Fun Festival!
June 01, 2012
Williamsburg has an eventful weekend ahead with an Outdoor Family Fun Festival that includes amusement rides, food, drink and a
Frolic Rock Fest Concert. This is all to Benefit Camp Brooklyn an amazing organization that provides a two week sleep away camp for low-income Brooklyn Children. Motherburg spoke with
Camp Brooklyn’s Debra Garcia on their cool partnership with our favorite playspace
Frolic!
MB:
Camp Brooklyn and Frolic feels like a great partnership, I am for one very excited about the concert. How did Camp Brooklyn come to partner with Folic?
Camp Brooklyn:
I was introduced to Carey and Julia by Norm Brodsky (CitiStorage)… we became phone friends and when I told them about the Camp Brooklyn event we were planning at CitiStorage … they immediately agreed to be a part of the event committee and that very quickly turned into them taking over the entertainment part of the event… which made total sense since Frolic is such a big part of the Williamsburg family scene especially when it comes to Children and music. Our mutual philosophy regarding enriching children’s lives makes us ideal partners!!!
MB:
The entertainment list is quite impressive. How did you get so many amazing musicians on board?
Camp Brooklyn:
Frolic worked with Charley Ryan and Peter Costello of Brooklyn Bowl to put this fabulous line-up together…!!!!
MB:
Do you see a concert such as this as an annual celebration, something for Brooklyn to look forward to every June?
Camp Brooklyn:
I am so thrilled to be working with Frolic, Brooklyn Bowl, Elaine and Norm Brodsky/CitiStorage and the rest of our event committee, our corporate sponsors, media sponsors and Auster Events in putting together this amazing day…all to benefit Camp Brooklyn!!!!
I think we will all be a bit sad when it is over… and of course I hope that this will become a tradition that all of Brooklyn and the rest of NYC can look forward to for many years to come!!!
